Senate committee advances RS 32421 to require priority planning and PEL studies for corridors

"We have many state highways in District 3 ... we believe we're anywhere between 20 to 30 years behind the ball on where we need to be," Senator Den Hartog said, describing long-standing planning needs. She said some corridors already have historic studies, some dating to the 1980s, and the RS would allow the department to accept private-sector funding to advance studies.
Senator Ricks moved to send RS 32421 to print; Senator Wintrow seconded. The motion carried by voice vote. The sponsor said, if introduced, the RS would be referred to the Transportation Committee for further consideration.
The RS will be printed for drafting and a formal hearing in the Transportation Committee.
