The Syracuse Planning Commission approved two zoning map maintenance items and recommended both to the Common Council.
City staff and the Office of Zoning Administration presented two pending parcel assignments that required final zoning district designations following prior re‑submissions. For each parcel—217 McKinley Ave (Z2900) and another pending parcel assigned R2 (Z2901)—the commission reviewed applicant‑ and staff‑prepared Environmental Assessment Forms (EAFs), adopted negative declarations under SEQR, and voted to forward recommendations to the Common Council that the pending parcels be assigned R2 (low‑density residential).
Because no members of the public were present for these items, the commission dispensed with the public comment step. Both SEQR motions and the subsequent zoning map amendment recommendations passed on voice votes with no recorded opposition. Staff noted some of the pending parcels had been in pending status for extended periods prior to reassignment, but provided no further development proposals tied to the items.
Both Z2900 and Z2901 will proceed to the Common Council as recommendations for affirmative action.
