The School Town of Speedway board on Oct. 2025 unanimously approved a two-year collective bargaining agreement with teachers that boosts pay by 3% in the first contract year and by a flat $1,820 in the second year.
The agreement, presented by district staff on behalf of the teachers association and the district’s administration team, covers 2025–2027 and includes pay adjustments intended to keep teacher compensation near the top among Indiana school corporations, the presenter said.
School staff described the first-year increase as a 3% across-the-board raise. The second contract year provides $1,820 across the salary schedule "from the top to the bottom," the presenter said. The package also adds extracurricular coaching stipends, including new positions for cheerleading and wrestling.
Board members moved and seconded approval during the meeting. The board voted 4–0 in favor; district representatives then signed the agreement at the meeting.
Board members praised the agreement as consistent with the district’s budget priorities to invest in classroom staff. No dissenting votes were recorded.
The contract text was included with the meeting packet; the board did not amend the agreement during the meeting. The presenters identified the teachers association representatives as Nick Pate and Michael Shoulders and named John Disney and Lance Schnauce as members of the district administration team associated with the negotiations.
The board asked no further changes and directed staff to proceed with execution and signing of the agreement.
