District staff reported that construction on the Talbot County Public Schools employee health center at 508 Waidawald is expected to be complete Sept. 15 and that the center targets a fall opening pending the hiring of a provider.
Staff said the district is seeking a physician assistant and has received a limited response to the posting; the operating partner has offered a signing bonus to fill the role. Pictures of the site and interior work were shown to the board. Staff said they plan to communicate details to employees this fall and include an announcement at opening‑day meetings.
Board members asked staff to forward the job posting to board members so they can notify local medical contacts. Staff said they had opted not to open the clinic with temporary staff and preferred waiting to hire a permanent provider to ensure consistent care. No final funding changes were reported during the update.
Staff will continue recruitment work with the operating partner and update the board at future meetings.
