Dr. Einhorn said the Nov. 13 day would be mandatory professional learning for staff. Board members asked operational questions — whether the change affects the school year end (it does not), whether the full day on Nov. 13 would require staff mandatory attendance (yes), and whether alternatives such as evening conference hours could preserve parent conference time. One board member moved to approve the change and was seconded, but the presenter noted that formal voting on the calendar amendment is part of the consent agenda on Wednesday; the motion was carried over for that meeting.
Staff said the district would consider flexible alternatives for conference scheduling (evenings or compensation ideas raised by board members) while recognizing family needs. The calendar amendment will appear on the consent agenda Wednesday for the board vote.
