The board was presented with annual performance reviews for authorized charter schools covering the 2023–24 school year; the district said there is no board action required at this time.
Tulsa Public Schools staff presented annual performance summaries for the district's authorized charter schools covering the 2023–24 school year during the June 16 meeting and provided the documents to board members and the public.
Chief Bergstresser (charter portfolio manager) explained the change in the Charter Schools Act that requires authorizers to present annual performance reports to their boards and to the charter school boards. The packet and summary deck covering five (and an anticipated sixth) charter schools were included in the board materials and posted on the district website. No renewals or charter-specific actions were on the agenda; KIPP Tulsa was noted as next up for renewal after the 2025–26 school year and will be scheduled later this fall to allow adequate review time.
Board members and staff said they would follow up on questions submitted in advance; staff noted Mindy Sutterfield is the charter portfolio manager and will assist with follow-up. No formal board action was taken on charter renewals at this meeting.
