Davidson County adopts resolution urging state to preserve local sales tax authority

Commissioners and staff said the resolution responds to legislative discussion in Raleigh about reallocating or restricting counties' use of sales tax proceeds. "The board respectfully urges the North Carolina General Assembly to preserve and protect these vital local revenue sources to ensure counties can continue to meet the growing needs of their residents," a commissioner read when presenting the resolution.
The resolution directs that copies be sent to members of the General Assembly and to the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners. The motion carried on a voice vote at the meeting.
