Brighton resident tells Liberty County board Michigan Flyer stop moved outside Livingston County, may breach contract

A Brighton resident told the Liberty County Board of Commissioners on June 9 that Michigan Flyer moved its Brighton stop to the 8 Mile Park & Ride outside Livingston County about three months ago and that the relocation may put the carrier in breach of its contract with the county.
Ella Nikitin, who identified herself as from the City of Brighton, said she filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the county and reviewed the county's contract with Michigan Flyer. She quoted a clause saying the carrier must “serve at least 1 drop off or pickup locations in a central location convenient for Livingston County travelers.”
“...a park and ride that is located outside of the county hardly qualifies as a central location,” Nikitin said during the board's public-comment period. She told commissioners she did not see any new contract in her FOIA review that would authorize the relocation and asked the board to “compel them to either return the bus stop to its original location or ... relocate it to a more central location” such as Spencer Road, Lee Road or Latson Road, which she said had been planned for years.
Nikitin also said construction along Grand River and I-96 has affected stop locations; she suggested the county require Michigan Flyer to place a stop at a “central location convenient for Livingston County travelers” as the contract requires. Her remarks did not produce public discussion or a response from the commissioners during the meeting, and no staff report or formal item on Michigan Flyer appeared on the agenda.
