Community Corrections to submit FY26 Office of Community Corrections application after local board approval

The Safety Committee on June 5 authorized Eaton County Community Corrections to submit the fiscal year 2026 Office of Community Corrections (OCC) grant application.
Melanie Auchenbach, director of Eaton County Community Corrections, told the committee the state moved the OCC application process to an electronic system and changed the submission window from May to June. That scheduling shift meant the local Community Corrections Advisory Board met May 20 and approved the OCC application after the committee's previously scheduled consideration; state rules require the county commission to review and approve the local application after the advisory board's approval.
Auchenbach said there were no language changes to the application since the advisory board's approval and she asked the committee to authorize submission. The committee moved, supported and voted to submit the application.
The committee recorded the motion to submit the application and the staff said the grant will be forwarded to the state as approved by the local advisory board; final award amounts, if any, will be determined by the state grantor.
