HR requested an additional $8,000 for the annual employee appreciation dinner and a separate $5,000 for employee recognition pins so the two items are budgeted distinctly.
Why it matters: county staff said the current approach has led to budget overruns for the celebration. Separating the line items would make budgeting more transparent and avoid last‑minute general‑fund transfers.
Other adjustment HR also said the department plans to reallocate part of the backgrounds budget to drug testing. Background checks have been under‑utilized this year; HR proposed moving approximately $6,500 from background checks into the drugs line to cover increased pre‑employment drug testing costs.
Ending HR said it is completing an HR evaluation and will share recommendations with the commissioners; staff asked that the commissioners consider the requested increases and reallocations when finalizing the FY2026 budget.
