Resident complaints at County meeting focus on road maintenance, ditches and school classroom concerns

Several public commenters used the county’s public comment period on June 10 to press the commissioners on road maintenance, roadside ditches and school classroom practices.
A resident who identified himself as Steve of Greensboro described recent repaving and a subsequent tar-and-chip treatment on Night Box Road and said some roads remain in poor condition. He said two previously submitted work orders to clear ditches had not been completed and asked why he needed to escalate to the commissioners to get follow-up. County staff said public works had reached out and would follow up with the resident.
Steve also raised concerns about a classroom at Greensboro Elementary, saying a teacher had displayed a pride flag in a classroom and had promoted material he described as "woke" to young students. He said this amounted to pushing ideology on elementary students and that he believed such matters were for the Board of Education to address. That issue was presented as a citizen complaint and not a county policy item.
The county asked public works to follow up on roadside ditching matters the resident raised, and staff said they would check the work-order status and follow up with the resident. No county policy change was proposed or adopted during public comment.
