The Sampson County Board of Commissioners approved two related actions requested by the county elections director: adoption/acquisition of the ES&S EBS 5.2.04 voting system upgrade and acceptance of a $3,007.14 homeland security grant to cover part of the upgrade cost.
Elections director’s presentation The elections director told the board that the county’s current software (Unity 3.411) will no longer be supported by the vendor. The Board of Elections conducted demonstrations of two vendors and recommended the county adopt ES&S EBS 5.2.04. The state board of elections has approved the system and the county conducted a simulated public demonstration for transparency.
Board action Commissioners voted to approve the acquisition as requested and to accept the $3,007.14 grant awarded by the North Carolina State Board of Elections (via homeland security funding) to support the upgrade.
Ending Staff will finalize procurement and acceptance of grant funds and coordinate installation and public demonstrations as required by state election rules.
