Board approves resolution declaring intent to exercise special assessment for Hickory Lane; notices to property owners pending

On May 27 the Village of Jackson Board of Public Works approved Resolution 25-18, declaring the village’s intent to exercise a special assessment for work on Hickory Lane and to forward the resolution to the Village Board.
The motion to approve Resolution 25-18 was made by Engelhart and seconded by Mitchell; the board approved the motion by voice vote.
Jack said draft notices to affected property owners were ready but not yet sent; staff is awaiting one final number from the consultant engineer before mailing. He said the assessment structure will broadly apply equal charges for storm-sewer lateral replacement and that most properties will be assessed for an additional one foot of sidewalk (to bring a 4-foot sidewalk to a 5-foot standard). Jack noted an apartment building that currently has no sidewalk will be assessed for the full 5-foot width and therefore will bear a larger share under the assessment formula.
The board did not record a roll-call vote on the public transcript. Staff said notices will be mailed once the consultant’s final numbers are provided.
Resolution 25-18 will be taken up by the Village Board as the next step in the special-assessment process.
