Grayson County commissioners adopt proclamations honoring two state track champions

The Grayson County Commissioner's Court unanimously adopted proclamations in May 2025 recognizing two area teams that won state track and field championships.

The court read and adopted a proclamation honoring the Tioga Bulldogs as the 2025 Class 2A boys track and field state champions. The proclamation noted the Bulldogs won three gold medals, including two relay events, scored in five events overall and set a new state record. The county read the team roster included Kacen Arrington, Jake David, Greeley McGaden and Justin Arrington, and named head coach Beau Blake Burris and school leaders in the proclamation text. The proclamation states the Bulldogs clinched the title at the University of Texas at Austin Mike Myers Stadium with a 1,600-meter relay time of 3 minutes, 18.57 seconds and said the final margin was 0.01 seconds; the text reported the team finished with 70 points to Holly ISD’s 62.

The court also adopted a proclamation honoring the Texoma Christian School girls as the 2025 TAPPS 1A girls state champions. The proclamation says TCS scored 124 points, outpaced the second-place team by 33 points, won four golds, four silvers and one bronze, and scored in 12 individual events plus all three relays. The proclamation listed team members and coaches by name in the adopted text and commended the athletes and staff for their achievement.

Both proclamations were adopted unanimously and the court invited the students and coaches forward during the meeting. Commissioners offered brief congratulations before moving on to other business.
