At the June 9 regular meeting the Clover Park School District Board of Directors approved three individual action items: an extension of Superintendent Ron Banner’s contract through June 30, 2028; adoption of grades 9–12 business and marketing instructional materials; and adoption of several policies following a second reading.
Contract extension: The board approved a resolution extending the superintendent’s contract an additional year through 06/30/2028 and directed that the board and superintendent meet to negotiate compensation provisions, including salary, benefits and leaves. The resolution states any agreement will be retroactive to 07/01/2025 unless otherwise agreed. The transcript includes an RCW citation as read during the meeting: "RCW 2 8 8.4 0.1 or 0.01" (as read aloud at the meeting). The motion passed (the board announced "4 ayes" on the roll call and the chair declared the motion passed).
Instructional materials: The board approved adoption of the career and technical education, grades 9–12, business and marketing instructional materials after a pilot and review process. Superintendent Banner referenced RCW "28A. 3 2 0.23" and policy 2020 in explaining the adoption timeline and prior review dates. The materials adopted were described in the meeting as "marketing sixth edition by Synich 2025" (as recorded in the board packet/memo presented at the meeting). The item was approved by voice vote.
Policy adoptions: The board also approved several policies on second reading that were previously presented at the May 27 workshop and adjusted based on board feedback. The superintendent recommended approval; the board approved the resolution on second reading by voice vote.
The board recessed into an executive session later in the meeting to discuss legal matters and returned with no further business. No additional formal actions were recorded during or following the executive session.
