Moorhead High School construction: Phase 1B nearing fall opening; performing arts center, music and athletic areas under way

Construction staff showed recent photographs of counseling spaces, the nurse’s suite, chemistry and bioscience labs and music suite progress. The performing arts center, art rooms and drama/scenery shop (Phase 2) are under construction; the presenter said some corridor work needed for access to the music area must be complete by December to allow use of the music spaces when they come online. The performing arts center and related Phase 2 work are on a longer timetable, with overall project completion projected for May–June 2026. The athletic complex Phase 2 (softball fields, turf, dugouts) was summarized as a separate, partially funded element; later phases (baseball and concessions) remain unfunded.
Board members asked about move logistics for summer, furniture installations and timing for theater completion; administration said Connect Interiors and contractors will move and install furniture in June–July and indicated the performing arts center would be complete in May–June 2026, not in time for spring 2026 productions but aligned for the 2026–27 school year.
Why it matters: The construction will shift school operations, require summer moves, and add new instructional and extracurricular capacity (performing arts, science labs, athletics). The schedule requires coordination with building staff for moves and a district tour was suggested for board members in August.
