Hardin County recovery center extended; disaster teams contacted more than 5,100 homes

Joyce Scott, Hardin County emergency management director, briefed the Fiscal Court on the county’s ongoing flood recovery effort and the county’s disaster-response partnerships.
Scott said disaster-survivor-assistance (DSA) teams knocked on or contacted 5,131 homes in Hardin County. She said private-sector teams also contacted 195 businesses, churches and community organizations. The county’s Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) remained open and the county had extended the DRC’s operating period to July 25; registrations through the DRC totaled 451 to date.
On financial recovery, Scott said nearly $3,000,000 has been recovered to date for Hardin County residents through claims activity tied to the disaster. She thanked federal and state partners — including FEMA and the Small Business Administration — and noted daily data updates and collaboration that support the recovery work.
Scott also reviewed training and coordination work the emergency-management office has conducted in recent weeks, including swift-water training, essential-damage-assessment training and public-information training for partner agencies and fire chiefs.
