AB667 (professions and vocations; licensing exams and interpreters) was amended to exclude health care licensure boards, removing an impact on the Respiratory Care Board. AB742, addressing expedited licensure processing for descendants of slaves, was amended to assign eligibility certification to a bureau proposed under SB518, removing cost certification burdens from the board. SB389 (relating to LVNs and suctioning in schools) was amended to address exemptions within the Respiratory Care Practice Act so licensed vocational nurses may perform suctioning in school settings under supervision of a credentialed school nurse.
The board called the roll and approved ratification of the executive committee’s interim support position on the federal Home Act by recorded vote. During public comment, a constituent noted the related senate companion was S1406 in the U.S. Senate and provided a sponsor name.
Board discussion acknowledged the paperwork and policy implications of these bills but did not alter the positions recommended by staff. The approved ratification enables staff to send a support letter prepared by the executive committee as included in the meeting materials.
