Board honors state‑qualifying throwers and highlights Tech Enrich summer learning conference

At its meeting trustees honored Richmond High School throwers who competed at the state meet and heard a bell-ringer report about the district's long-running Tech Enrich summer learning conference.

Sam Pritchard, assistant superintendent for secondary education, presented track honors and invited athletes and coaches to the podium. Student athlete Mason Heiney said, "I didn't do the best, but it was fun." Jacob Lindahl said he placed in the state meet: "I got top 7. I got place in the state, so never gonna argue with that." Board members and coaches noted sectional and regional accomplishments, and coaches credited throwing coaches Tim and Alyssa for work with athletes.

Pritchard later presented a bell-ringer about the Tech Enrich Summer Learning conference the district hosts for educators. He said the conference drew more than 270 attendees, 94 of whom were Richmond Community Schools staff. The e-learning team — Jeremy Hill, Tim Arnold and Jody Robinson — secured roughly $18,000 in grant funding and raised about $6,000 locally to cover registration, food, swag and door prizes.

The conference schedule included 49 sessions and 32 speakers, Pritchard said; the keynote speaker was Amy Storer of an organization the transcript identified as "Bridal Tech" out of Texas. Sessions covered virtual and blended learning, STEM, universal design for learning and artificial intelligence. Attendees included regional educators and district staff; Pritchard said the conference is the longest-running Tech Enrich event in the state and provides professional development at no cost to participants.

Trustees congratulated the student-athletes and thanked the e-learning team and other staff who organized the conference.
