Assistant City Manager Ethan Cox said the program offers rides for work, medical trips and leisure on weekdays but does not operate on weekends or holidays. Benbrook is the only participating city that guaranteed rides two days per week (Tuesdays and Thursdays); other participating cities guarantee one day per week. Cox said Benbrook residents may request service on other days but could be offered alternatives or full‑cost service if no metro van is available.
Cox told council the program’s per‑ride fee remains $2.50 — unchanged from the prior year — and the city’s participation cost for administrative support is $7,529. Cox said most operating funding comes from a federal grant; the city’s fee covers local administrative costs.
Councilmember Franklin moved to approve participation at the $7,529 administrative cost; Councilmember Mackey seconded. The council voted unanimously to approve the interlocal agreement.
