“I am an artist and entrepreneur,” Jay said during her presentation. “I have 2 businesses in Brooklyn that I'm looking to expand. One of them is an academy of the arts.” Jay described recent programming that included outdoor classes, community activations and short films; she said she has experience producing work at venues including King’s Theatre and working with a wide range of participants.
Commission staff explained the review process and told Jay she would receive follow-up communication after the commission’s internal review. Commissioners praised the presentation and spoke about hopes to increase cultural activity downtown; no formal certification decision was recorded at the meeting.
