Marysville planning commission continues Recology boundary-expansion request after runoff, leachate concerns

The Marysville Planning Commission on May 28 opened a public hearing on a proposed modification to the conditional use permit for Recology Ubesser, a transfer facility at 3001 North River Road, and then voted to continue the item to the commission’s next meeting so the company can answer questions about drainage and leachate.

City planning staff member Mike Lukin told the commission the application would expand the area covered by an existing conditional use permit to incorporate the former composting site and other underutilized portions of the roughly 160‑acre parcel. Lukin said the company is not proposing an increase in throughput or truck trips; the staff report lists the facility’s existing permit figures as “18 70 tons per day” and “9 75 per day” (as shown in the staff analysis).
