At the meeting the council approved several procurement and finance items spanning road maintenance work, IT security, recreational equipment and auditing services.
Public Works Director Rich Berbernet explained a requested amendment to the existing road‑striping contract (K5) to cover additional epoxy removal tied to the town’s stone‑seal program. Council approved increasing the contract for 2024‑25 and separately approved related crack‑seal and stone‑seal contracts for the upcoming paving season.
The council authorized an IT purchase under a grant for a security information and event management (SIEM) system (purchase from CDW‑G) that will be fully funded by a Rhode Island Emergency Management grant. The council also approved a rescission of a prior fitness‑room equipment award and authorized a new cooperative‑purchase award for replacement equipment to restore the rec center machines long delayed by delivery problems.
On finance, the council approved a three‑year professional audit services contract (fiscal years 2025–2027) to CliftonLarsonAllen (CLA), the low bidder; the Auditor General reviewed the recommendation. At the town‑manager report the town announced it had retained a Aa1 bond rating from Moody’s and received a Municipal Investment Grade (MIG‑1) rating for short‑term obligations — both signals the town’s strong fiscal standing ahead of bond anticipation notes tied to capital borrowing.
Councilors approved these items in separate votes; most roll calls were unanimous.
