Commission agenda includes committee appointments, budget amendment second reading, workshop reinstatement and ZIP code review

Tamarac — During the May 27 staff agenda review, city staff previewed multiple items set for the May 28 commission meeting, including committee appointments, the second reading of the city’s first 2025 budget amendment, a commissioner request to reinstate commission workshops, and a ZIP code boundary review to evaluate pursuing a new ZIP code for Tamarac.

Staff said item 5(d) is a resolution to appoint five members to the newly formed Senior Advisory Committee and item 5(e) is a resolution appointing one member to the RBG committee. The staff review described these as consent-agenda appointments; the transcripts did not record names of the appointees during the review.

The staff packet also lists an ordinance for second reading (item 8) — the city’s first budget amendment of 2025. Christine, a staff member, said nothing in the ordinance has changed since the first reading, which the transcript records was approved on May 14.

Commissioner Moore Wright submitted item 11(a), a request to reinstate commission workshops; staff said that will be discussed at the May 28 meeting. Item 11(b) is a ZIP code boundary review that the city manager’s office will present; staff said it will outline steps the city would pursue to establish a new ZIP code for Tamarac.

No formal votes or final actions were recorded during the staff review; staff repeatedly reminded the audience that public comment will be welcomed at the commission meeting. The staff review concluded by noting the items will be presented to the commission for formal consideration on May 28.
