Crest Hill council approves new projector, authorizes up to $5,000 for electrical work

City Administrator Blaine Wing told the council the city can pay for the project by reallocating savings from the municipality's Verizon phone contract — an annual savings he said is "just under $12,000" — and from annual payments the city receives through its electric aggregation contract, which he estimated at about $10,000 to $12,000 a year.
The contract was moved and seconded during the council meeting and passed on a roll-call vote. Installation is expected after the Dec. 15 council meeting so the work will not conflict with council sessions. Stuart, a vendor representative in the audience, said the dates discussed should work with the vendor's schedule.
Council members discussed related equipment needs during the motion, including whether any remaining funds could be applied to long-running microphone problems in the council chamber. Staff said they will work with the vendor on a plan and scheduling and will return with installation details as needed.
The project will replace an existing large monitor with a ceiling-mounted projector and provide wired and wireless inputs for presenters. City staff said the vendor will coordinate installation timing to avoid scheduled council and planning meetings.
The motion to approve the proposal with ACP Creative IT for the projector and screen for $15,897, and to give staff authority up to $5,000 for electric work, passed on a roll-call vote. The council did not specify a contract number in the record.
