E.B. Frank Middle School construction underway; contractors started excavation and geothermal drilling

Lenoir County Public Schools' update on E.B. Frank Middle School construction reported on Sept. 8 that the $X project (contractor Metcon) began July 14 and crews have completed initial excavation, geothermal drilling, stormwater installation and foundation pours in early site areas.
District construction staff and Metcon representatives told the board the contractor has been on site for more than 50 of an anticipated 600 working days. Work completed in August included excavation for the building pad, drilling geothermal wells, setting culverts at the driveway entrance, extending sanitary sewer to the property line and pouring foundations in area 600.
The presentation noted August's sustained high temperatures and thanked site workers for progress under hot conditions. Staff said a live camera will be activated soon after the Internet connection is installed at the build site and invited board members to schedule site tours.
District staff also said they are coordinating closely with the district's construction manager and project manager to monitor schedule and budget, and showed photographs attached to the board packet documenting site progress.
