Bolivar — The Bolivar City Council on May 8 adopted a proclamation recognizing May 8, 2025, as Children’s Mental Health Acceptance Day and received remarks from Tennessee Voices staff about local coalition activities.
The proclamation, read on the council floor, asked citizens and local agencies to support programs and services addressing mental-health needs for children, youth and young adults. Council staff said the proclamation would be signed by the mayor and entered into the record.
Tennessee Voices presentation Representatives from Tennessee Voices, a nonprofit focused on children’s behavioral health, told the council they operate a Children’s Mental Health Coalition in Hardeman County that meets monthly to coordinate services and outreach. A Tennessee Voices community engagement specialist said the coalition meets on the third Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. and that members rotate meeting locations across the county to increase participation.
The Tennessee Voices speaker urged broader community participation and listed planned summer activities the coalition will host at local venues, including a kickoff event at the Timbers building on May 22. The speaker said the coalition seeks to expand attendance, involve businesses as hosts and improve access to early supports for children and families.
Ending: The council thanked the organization for its work and accepted the proclamation; council members encouraged residents and local groups to participate in coalition activities and upcoming events.
