Why it matters: The county-level budget vote sets appropriations, tax levies and contingency levels for the coming fiscal year and authorizes district operations. The appointments fill volunteer leadership roles on the county fair board and the recreational-lands advisory committee. The insurance broker contract continues brokered support for property, liability, workers’ compensation and employee-benefit insurance services. Commissioners thanked staff for the budget work and noted several items of future follow-up, including continued attention to projects and appropriations mentioned in the budget.
Process notes: Several public hearings were held prior to adoption of budgets for the county and special districts; the board recessed prior to the evening session and then reconvened for roll call and the formal actions. All recorded motions were adopted by voice vote where the minutes show “Aye” with no recorded dissents.
