Commission adopts updated building-code adoptions and groundwater remediation district ordinances

The Board of County Commissioners adopted multiple ordinances on June 10 related to building and construction codes and a local groundwater remediation district.
Ordinance 17-36 updated the county’s referenced additions of specialized and uniform building codes (the county’s building-and-construction code was updated by ordinance). Commissioner Alexis Garcia moved the ordinance and the board adopted it unanimously, with an effective date of July 1, 2025.
Separately the board adopted ordinances adjusting District 24 (Groundwater Remediation). Ordinance 17-37 amended the district boundary. Ordinance 17-38 levied the associated fee for District 24 and ratified county officer actions. Both measures passed unanimously.
Commissioners had brief public commentary and one speaker urged that the wildland‑urban interface (defensible space) chapter of the wildland code be evaluated for adoption; the speaker asked the county to consider adopting Chapter 6 (defensible-space requirements) in a future agenda. No changes to the ordinances were made at the meeting.
