During the public-comment period of the California State Board of Pharmacy Licensing Committee meeting on June 12, an outsourcing-facility applicant raised concerns about licensing timelines and communication.
Boris Gietes told the committee he had applied for an outsourcing facility license and said, "it's been, quite a long time" and that he had waited "almost 6 months" without substantive communication. He asked whether the board posts timelines or could otherwise share processing expectations.
Executive Officer Anne replied that applicants may contact her or staff member Julie directly and that staff would research the status of pending applications, and encouraged the commenter to use the email addresses published in the licensing materials.
Committee members followed up: Claudia Mercado asked that the board report back on steps taken to improve accessibility and transparency of processing timelines at a future meeting. Committee Chair Seung Oh said staff routinely publishes processing-time updates in licensing committee materials and that staff would continue to monitor applicant communications.
No formal action was taken; the committee recorded the comments and directed staff to continue providing processing-time information in future licensing materials.
