The Houston Archaeological and Historical Commission on Thursday voted to recommend landmark designation for the Allen and Hattie Greenhouse residence at 5319 Institute Lane.
Staff described the property as a two‑story brick‑veneer Colonial Revival home built circa 1929 by HG Fields Lumber Company in the Jandor Gardens addition. The staff report said the property meets multiple designation criteria and cited historical record references including a 1929 Houston Chronicle permit listing and city directories that show the Green family residing at the address through the early 1950s.
Staff recommended that the commission forward the landmark nomination to City Council. No members of the public spoke at the hearing. A motion to accept staff’s recommendation passed and the nomination will be advanced to City Council for final action.
