The Town of Millis Planning Board granted a 60-day extension to the Acorn Place senior residential project on June 10 to allow the developer time to complete as‑built surveys and file the materials needed to close out the special permit.
Planning staff reported that paving and driveway work had been completed and that the developer requested an extension because the as‑built survey must be prepared and then reviewed by the consulting engineer before the permit can be closed. "They asked for 60 days because what will have to happen is they'll have to get the permit, get the as built on, send it in, and then we'll have to have the consulting engineer go back and review it to make sure everything's up to snuff," a staff member told the board.
A nearby resident, Rich Campbell of Acorn Place, asked whether the as‑built team would visit the site and whether residents would be notified of the inspection. Staff advised that field surveyors typically perform measurements without providing on‑the‑ground commentary, and recommended that residents channel specific concerns (for example, missing bollards) to planning staff so they can be forwarded to the consulting engineer for review.
The board voted to provide a 60‑day extension. Staff said they expect the as‑built submission and consulting‑engineer review to conclude the permitting process and close the file for the project if no outstanding items remain.
