District roof assessment finds major needs; Middle School and North Street flagged

Dr. Cummings said the district received a grant to fund the assessment and that a contractor used infrared imaging and other inspections. "All of our roofs are in rough shape," he said, noting the assessment produced estimated costs that the district described as "sky high" and emphasized these are estimates, not bids.
The superintendent said staff will work with town officials and the vendor to develop a one‑page primer summarizing the findings and costs to help inform a multiyear capital plan. He also noted timing challenges with an override and that the district needs to coordinate with municipal budgeting and capital planning.
No bond or capital decision was made at the meeting; staff will return with a summary primer and possible approaches for bundling projects and timing recommendations for town officials and the committee.
