Council approves $27,522 transformer purchase for Renaissance Center hookup

The Bountiful City Council on April 22 approved the purchase of a GE Prolec transformer for inventory that will be used to provide electrical service to the Renaissance Center parking garage.
Staff member Allen Johnson presented the item and said the city currently has one unit in inventory but needs to replace inventory because transformers have long delivery times. Johnson said the Renaissance Center will pay for the transformer when it arrives.
City staff and the power commission reviewed three supplier bids (one supplier provided two quotes) and recommended the low bid from Anixter for $27,522. A councilmember moved to approve the purchase; the motion passed by voice vote.
Staff said the transformer will be placed into city inventory and either that unit or the existing inventory unit will be used to serve the Renaissance Center when the project is ready for power connection.
