Placerville reports closed‑session agreement on POA pay terms; MOU to return to council

The Placerville City Council reported on June 10 that it reached agreement in closed session on tentative terms with the Police Officers’ Association (POA) that will be memorialized in a forthcoming memorandum of understanding (MOU).
City Attorney reported the council "has agreed to, some terms which will be memorialized in an MOU that will be forthcoming at a subsequent council meeting," and read the terms discussed in closed session: "a 2% COLA increase for 2025 starting July, a 1% COLA starting on January 2026 until June 30 and then a 3% COLA for 2026 and 2027 with an escape clause. The 2026 and 2027 COLAs would, start on July 1 of each respective year." The city attorney also told the council there was no public comment in advance of the closed session.
The city attorney reported the council agreed to the terms in a unanimous vote. The report did not include signatures or a finalized MOU; staff said the agreement will be brought back to a future council meeting as a formal MOU for ratification and any required public action.
The council did not take additional public action on the item at the June 10 meeting beyond the closed-session report and the attorney’s readout.
