Selectmen appoint Kyle as DNCR rail-trail representative and name Chris Elliott alternate

The Ossipee Board of Selectmen unanimously moved to appoint Selectman Kyle as the town’s representative to the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) working group overseeing the former rail corridor. The board also appointed Chris Elliott as the town’s alternate.
Officials said DNCR plans a series of committee meetings, likely monthly, to develop a plan for the corridor. The first meeting is scheduled for the 19th, to be held at the freight house at 10 a.m. The committee will include 16 members and representatives from adjacent towns; Ossipee is to provide one member plus an alternate and also expects to coordinate with Madison and Tamworth representatives.
Board members said they had received a letter or email from DNCR and asked staff to confirm the appointments and respond to DNCR with the town’s delegates. A board member offered the motion to appoint Kyle and Chris Elliott, the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The board noted the DNCR process may take up to 13 months and that the town’s representative will attend monthly meetings to discuss corridor management, safety and future public uses such as trail access.
