Willis ISD approves personnel actions and introduces new maintenance and communications directors
Summary
Following a closed session, the board approved personnel listed during closed session and the board welcomed Brian Grama as Director of Maintenance and Dr. Sarah Blaiklock as the district’s new director of communications.
After a closed session to consider personnel matters, the Willis ISD Board of Trustees reconvened in open session and approved the personnel recommendations listed in closed session.
"Make a motion that we approve the personnel as listed," Mr. Williams said. The motion was seconded by Mr. Carson and carried by the board.
The board then formally introduced Brian Grama as the district’s new director of maintenance and Dr. Sarah Blaiklock as the new director of communications. A board presenter said Grama had already been working several weeks in the role. The presenter introduced Dr. Blaiklock as an elementary-certified teacher who has worked in Virginia and Texas, previously served as a GT specialist in Conroe ISD and for about 11 years ran the communications department in Conroe ISD; the presenter also noted Dr. Blaiklock holds a doctorate in educational professional leadership from the University of Houston.
Dr. Blaiklock addressed the board: "Public education is very close to my heart. It has always been my passion, and I'm so proud to have the opportunity to serve here and implement your vision and goals for this great district." She also thanked family and friends who attended the meeting.
The closed session was taken under the statutory authority the board cited on the record. The board’s recorded action in open session was a motion to approve the personnel items as listed; no additional conditions or staff assignments were recorded in the open-session vote.
