Willis ISD board approves RFS Sports quote for high school lockers

Willis ISD trustees on May 30 approved a vendor quote from RFS Sports to provide and install new lockers at the high school, trustees said the vendor’s quote covers demolition, dumpster service, lockers, installation and cleanup and staff expects an approximately 12-week timeline from issuance of a purchase order.
The board approved the superintendent’s recommendation to accept the RFS Sports quote in a recorded motion. “The lowest price was offered by RFS Sports with a total of a hundred and $6,788. That also includes demo, dumpster, lockers, installation, and cleanup,” the presenter said. The motion to approve RFS Sports was moved by Mr. Jones and seconded by Miss Crater; the vote carried 7-0.
The presenter told the board that the district issued a request for quote through the TIP cooperative and that six vendors expressed interest after asking for specifications. Staff provided dimensions and floor plans; three vendors returned formal quotes and one declined because they do not remove lockers. Peyton Hardman assisted by recording measurements and the floor plan for vendors, the presenter said.
Staff said RFS Sports was estimating a 12-week timeframe from the purchase order and that staff had discussed staging the installation with Coach Miller so it would not be delayed until the end of the athletic season. The presenter added the district will issue the purchase order as soon as board approval is obtained.
Board members asked no further substantive questions at the time of the vote.
The new lockers are intended for the high school; staff said they are coordinating the installation schedule with athletic staff to avoid conflicts with the season.
