Residents raise complaints about damaged lawns, driveways after city water and utility work

Balda Garza, who identified her address as 2921 Lafayette Boulevard, said heavy equipment used during a water replacement project last year cracked her driveway and tore up portions of her lawn. She said she had communicated with a contact (Ron Rio) and had provided photos but had not received further follow-up and asked the city for assistance getting the damage repaired.
Holly Sturgeon, who lives on the 1500 block of Stewart, said a separate project involving DTE and gas-line work damaged her lawn and sidewalks; she said contractors graded and scraped turf, leaving abrupt grade differences and exposed soil. Sturgeon said she had tried multiple channels to get the work corrected and that a DPW staff member (Susan) had not returned calls. She told council she wants to know who in the city is responsible for project oversight and for arranging repairs.
City response
A city representative (engineering/DPW representative present at the meeting) directed both residents to speak with DPW director John Kazzoo (name spelled variably in the transcript) after the meeting and to provide contact details so staff can investigate and follow up.
