Pathway Partners Transportation and Plus (application for a private delivery license) Jean Pierre, speaking for applicants Stephina, Zenon and Jean Florent Pierre, said the business has lived in New Bedford since 2019 and plans a five-vehicle fleet with five drivers and off-street parking at 50 New Plainville Road. Councilors asked about fleet size, off-street parking, training and contracts. Councilor Abreu and Councilor Morad asked several operational questions; the applicants said they had completed required training and planned to employ five drivers. The committee voted to refer the application to the full City Council on June 12 with a positive recommendation.
Mayoral appointments Mayor Mitchell's appointments were received and placed on file and referred to the full council with positive recommendations. Angela Clark of 14 Irving Street was nominated to the Commission for Citizens with Disabilities to replace a resigning commissioner; she identified herself as a social worker with experience serving people experiencing homelessness and social-work boards. James (Jim) McKeag of 52 Seventh Street was nominated as an alternate to the Planning Board; he described a background in building trades, historic preservation, and planning-related public policy work at MassDevelopment. Both nominations passed the committee on voice votes and will appear on the June 12 full council agenda for final action.
Other procedural items A petition from Dionne R. Reyes (Savers Thrift) requesting a residency-waiver to obtain a dealer-in-junk license was not present and was tabled. Separately, a written motion asking PA Landers Incorporated to explain alleged failures to notify businesses was considered; after the committee confirmed PA Landers had complied with notification and DPI had engaged the company, Councilor Baptiste moved that the matter be referred to the full City Council for no further action; the committee approved that motion by voice vote.
