TWC reports legislative progress: three agency proposals pass the Texas Senate; one related bill signed into law

During the meeting, TWC governmental relations staff reported the agency provided resource witness testimony this week on bills under consideration and that several TWC legislative proposals advanced in the Texas Legislature.
Michael Bridal, TWC governmental relations, said the agency provided resource witness testimony on House Bill 322 (JET program funding usage) and on House Bill 4903 (the Quad Agency Child Care Initiative), with staff participating in senate committee hearings this week. Bridal also reported that the Texas Senate passed three TWC legislative proposals: House Bill 3698 (TWC proposal related to RSEA), House Bill 3699 (proposal to modify the definition of last work) and House Bill 3700 (proposal related to establishing fraud, waste and abuse detection and prevention). Bridal said those three bills will be sent to the governor for consideration.
Bridal also reported that Governor Abbott signed Senate Bill 765, a TWC legislative proposal related to confidentiality of fraud detection and prevention methods. Bridal noted the 89th legislative session is scheduled to adjourn June 2.
Timing and next steps: the bills passed by the senate will proceed to the governor for consideration; resource witness activity will continue as committees consider related measures.
