Planning board approves administrative cleanup to site-plan amendment review process

Cooper City Planning & Zoning Board members unanimously approved an administrative-code cleanup (item 4c) intended to codify authorities staff already exercise and to remove outdated procedural language.
Community development staff member Jason said the changes add powers that commissions have previously granted to staff, including limited administrative approval for minor deviations such as small parking layout adjustments, sign-package color swaps and site-fencing or outdoor seating plans arising out of COVID-era practice. He said the draft explicitly includes trademark logos and allows sign waivers up to 20% as administrative approvals.
The amendment also removes outdated language on fee schedules and payment procedures. Jason described the changes as largely housekeeping to reflect recent practice rather than a change in policy: “it's really just adding a couple of those powers that have already been granted, if you will, and then removing outdated language for the fee schedules, payment procedures, etcetera.”
Following a motion and second, the board voted by voice to approve the cleanup amendments as presented.
