Council flags insurance shortfall for Camp Saradac Climb Time rock wall; approval contingent on coverage

A staff member (Rachel) told the council the vendor's underlying general-liability limit has been lowered to $2,000,000 this year and that Climb Time is not providing an excess-liability policy. Rachel said the city previously accepted higher underlying limits (cited in discussion as up to $5,000,000 in prior years) and that under the current limits the city would require gap coverage or an increase in the vendor's liability limits before approving the contract.
Council members asked staff to provide revised contract wording or a resolution for the next meeting. The council indicated two options: require Climb Time to increase its coverage to meet prior-year limits or require the vendor to obtain excess liability (gap) coverage; if neither solution is forthcoming, the city stated it could not approve the contract.
