DFM requests one additional financial analyst position for budget and financial oversight

The Division of Financial Management (DFM) requested one ongoing financial management analyst senior position and minor one-time IT replacement items in its budget presentation to the Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee.
Budget analyst Christopher LaHozet summarized the request: $118,100 in ongoing personnel costs (salary and benefits), $500 ongoing operating, and $5,800 one-time for computer equipment and onboarding expenses. DFM said the requested position would be dedicated to financial oversight and reporting functions and paid from the agency’s indirect cost recovery fund.
DFM Administrator Laurie Wolf told the committee the agency experienced leadership turnover in the prior year and had increased its staff fill rate; she said the new position would improve reporting and visibility over executive-branch budgets, support LUMA-related transitions and enhance the state’s capability to monitor appropriations and expenditures.
The request also included $21,100 for IT replacement items at DFM’s recommendation to ITS. The committee did not take a vote and asked staff to review the request as part of the broader budget process.
