SORTA approves Bender Road paving project; drainage repairs slated for 2026, paving for 2027

Delhi Township Public Works Director Rupritger reported at the Oct. 8 trustees meeting that, after several years of outreach to Hamilton County engineers, the Bender Road paving project was approved through the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority (SORTA).
The approved scope covers paving from Route 50 to Knee Broad. Director Rupritger said the county will perform drainage repairs in 2026 and complete final paving in 2027. The township had pushed for paving to extend to Anderson Ferry but the project was approved only to Knee Broad; staff said they will continue to advocate for extending the paving in future phases.
Trustees discussed anticipated traffic changes, with one trustee noting the road “is gonna change a lot” once work is complete. Director Rupritger said he is continuing outreach on other entryways into the township, including Henderson Ferry, and that project scheduling has multiple county dependencies.
The director characterized the approval as “mostly good news” and said the project will improve a gateway into Delhi Township. Trustees asked follow-up questions about timing and drainage scope; Director Rupritger said drainage work will precede paving and acknowledged the anticipated multi-year timeline.
No formal board vote on the county project was required at the meeting; the trustees recorded their appreciation for staff follow-up and moved on to other agenda items.
