Forest Lake City Council approved an ordinance updating the city's fee schedule and adopted an amended 2025 meeting calendar at Monday's meeting.
Jessica (staff) presented an amended fee schedule that adds grading-related building inspection fees (for new construction, not for decks and pools) consistent with council direction from an earlier meeting and adds a plan review/resubmittal fee of $55 per hour for resubmitted plans. The ordinance before the council was identified as Ordinance 756 amending city code chapter 35 for fees and service charges; council approved the ordinance by voice vote.
Jolene Chaika presented the amended 2025 regular meeting calendar. Under the change, Economic Development Authority (EDA) meetings would move to the first Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m.; regular council meetings would remain the second and fourth Mondays of each month but shift to a 6 p.m. start time; planning commission meetings would start at 6 p.m. rather than 7 p.m.; airport commission meetings would start at 6 p.m. Parks Commission times would not change. Staff said the amended calendar would take effect in July and that the change was based on council feedback to reduce late-night meetings and improve staff scheduling.
Council discussed EDA meeting timing and staffing impacts; staff said they had solicited feedback from commission members and received no strong objections to the schedule changes. The council adopted the amended meeting calendar by voice vote.
Staff also noted a correction to the meeting notes (consent agenda item 7B) to reflect who moved and seconded and to correct a public hearing open/close time in the minutes; the council approved that correction as part of the consent process.
