North Platte board approves 2025-26 student and employee handbooks and several policy updates; reimburses two board members

What board members and staff said: Brandy Buscher, who led the student-handbook presentation, said she added links to policies and forms and worked with principals on enforceability: "I did add policy links... If there was a form, a bullying form, a withdrawal form, I did add a link to where that is on our web page so they can just click on that and access that, fairly easily," Buscher said. Kevin Mills said the employee handbook now contains linked policies and reflected committee input: "Everything is linked in there," he told the board.

Why it matters: The handbooks set expectations for students and employees for the coming school year; reaffirmed policies include federal- and state-required items such as student-fee waivers and parental-involvement notifications tied to Title I compliance. Approving handbook and policy language also initiates the implementation and communication process to staff, students and families ahead of the new school year.
