Danvers accessibility commission compiles ADA survey results, plans follow-ups with town staff and emergency responders
Summary
At its June 26, 2025 meeting, the Town of Danvers Accessibility Commission agreed to compile and present ADA survey responses to the town manager and DPW, pursue coordination with Danvers Recreation and the police on inclusion and sensory supports, and push for a central online resource for accessibility programs.
The Town of Danvers Accessibility Commission met June 26, 2025, and agreed to compile results from a short ADA survey and present them at a planned meeting with the town manager and the Department of Public Works (DPW).
The commission said the compiled survey responses will be used to request access to the town account that holds funds intended for accessibility improvements and to make targeted recommendations for how those funds should be spent. “We want accessibility. We want that money to go towards accessibility,” said Lauren, a commission member, referring to the group’s objective to ensure funds are spent on projects that benefit people with disabilities.
Why it matters: the commission’s work shapes local accessibility improvements such as recreation programming, library access, sidewalks and crosswalks, and town events. Members said they want the town to treat the commission as a partner and to publish any existing accessibility plan on the town website so residents can find it.
