St. Mary Parish School Board recognizes new administrators and support personnel winners

At its meeting the St. Mary Parish School Board introduced newly appointed school administrators and recognized district support personnel.
Miss Sarah Olivier was introduced as the new Dean of Students at LaGrange Elementary. Miss Olivier told the board: "I'm incredibly honored and humbled to step into the role of Dean at LaGrange...Listen, establish trust, lead with respect, and serve with intention." The board noted Olivier holds a master's degree in educational leadership and is pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership at the University of Louisiana at Monroe (transcript spelling noted Louisiana institutions). She was introduced with family in attendance.
Miss Kendra Thomas was introduced as assistant principal of Raintree. The board said Thomas has 22 years of service in the district and has served as an elementary teacher, librarian, curriculum facilitator, and dean of students. Thomas told the board: "This moment is more than just a professional milestone. It's a deeply personal [one]...I do so with a heart full of gratitude and a spirit ready to serve."
The board also announced that Miss Christina Harrison will serve as the district's federal programs liaison; Harrison was unable to attend. The board summarized Harrison's credentials as stated at the meeting: a bachelor's degree in elementary education with K'12 special education certification and a master's degree in educational leadership, plus specialized certifications in intervention, content leadership and ESL instruction.
The district recognized support personnel at the meeting. The transcript records that a staff member named Miss Wagner was named a state winner and was introduced with family and district leaders. The board also announced the district employee support personnel of the year as Donnella Way and invited family and supervisors to be recognized. Donnella Way spoke briefly to thank supervisors, the superintendent and her Raintree staff.
These recognitions were presented during the appearances/recognitions portion of the agenda and did not require a board vote.
