Bill to expand forensic juvenile mental-health services cleared for hearing after fiscal note removed

Assemblywoman Erica Roth (Assembly District 24) presented Assembly Bill 467 to the Senate Finance Committee, describing the bill’s aim to expand forensic mental-health services. She said the Department of Public and Behavioral Health (DPBH) had submitted a fiscal note in regard to section 20 (competency treatment for juveniles) but that, following discussions, DPBH determined treatment was covered by existing funding and the fiscal note was removed.
Jonathan Norman of the Nevada Coalition of Legal Service Providers testified in support. There were no callers on the public line for or against the bill during the hearing.
